Questions on IOM Hotels 2014 Classic TT
« on: March 28, 2014, 08:13:38 PM »
Hi everybody,
Not sure how many people here have visited the Isle of Man for the TT, or Manx GP/Classic TT/Festival of Motorcycles, but I seem to be finding that all the hotels are blocked from normal booking and people are forced to book through an agency at inflated prices.  Is this the case or am I not digging deep enough? I would totally expect astronomical prices for the TT but $888 per person for 5 days is what I am finding for the Classic TT for a 3 star hotel. So for my wife and I to go its $1776 just for the hotel?

If anyone can share any advice or insight that would be great. If I just need to sack up and pay it I suppose I will but just want to make sure I'm not not missing a better deal.
Thanks in advance!
Josh

Hi Josh,

have you tried looking outside Douglas for a better deal ? You could try Ramsey  or Peel  . . . The island is not that big, so they are not all that far away from Douglas, but the prices could be much better.
Use the IOM tourist board site http://www.visitisleofman.com/accommodation/isle-of-man-hotels.aspx and consider booking a B&B rather than a Hotel.
You might make enough of a saving to pay for car rental.

thats good advice , also look into renting a house . quite a few island residents rent theirs out during the tt .
to be honest you will be much better off outside of douglas .

might be worth asking this question in the racing section , there are a couple of iom dwellers that post there and perhaps one can help you .
