The strangest question ever

I am a hang glider instructor and am going use my 77 hondamatic 750a as a launch winch by setting the wheel on rollers that rotate a drum containing spectra line. With the  line is on the drum,the free end will have to be pulled away from the winch 4000 ft to the launch point.With the drive in neutral pulling the line will rotate the rear wheel & transmission backwards. What i need to know is will this damage the transmission in any way. I have attached pic of a like setup made by someone else, do not know if it damaged his transmission. Plz reply only if you know the answer, no guesses plz

When the back wheel is turned backwards [ idle ]  the converter is NOT locking up the clutch plates, as soon as you gas the motor up the torque converter locks up and your wheel starts turn forward.  You ever been on a up hill with your car in drive and let off the food brake, you will coast backwards until you hit the brake or push down on gas pedal to lockup the converter.  The HONDAMATIC is a POWERGLIDE like in old time CHEVY cars and most dragsters at the track.

The clutch packs for both low and high will have no pressure on them when the bike is running in neutral. The clutch packs will only get pressure when the the hydraulic selector valve is located in either low or high by moving the gear selector lever. The convertor however is constantly pressurised and turning , waiting for one of the clutch packs to be engaged. There is a slight drag between the clutch plates even when in neutral, this is why the rear wheel turns when the bike is running in neutral on the centre stand.
If you reel out the drum with the engine off then that would prevent premature clutch plate wear because the residual pressure on the clutch plates would not exist. Being a wet sump engine/transmission means the shaft bearings would be able to handle the reeling out with the engine off versus an automatic car being towed. The automatic car will damage the transmission when towed as we all know.
The convertor pressure is not to be confused with clutch pressure, convertor pressure is relatively low pressure at a high flow whereas clutch pressure is higher pressure at a lower flow.

Just in case anyone has ever wondered Hang Gliding has about the same accident rate as motorcycling

True, you do however get run over by the car drives that does not see you. Ps its only the last few feet that kill you
