Fork lock??
« on: March 29, 2014, 03:25:42 PM »
I don't know why but I've never noticed this until today. Opened the little cover and found this key hole. I'm going to ass ume that it's some kind of fork lock but I can't any information about it in the manual. Am I right? How does it work. Doesn't appear to do anything.

You turn the bars to the left or right...insert your key and push the mechanism in and turn the key to lock. Then turn the key again a shorter distance and the key will come out with the steering locked. Keep in mind the ignition key and steering lock will need to have the same key number on there. Sometimes people change the ignition key but not the steering lock.

No kidding? Well I have to have the correct key because I can remove the plastic cover off the thing and then remove the lock core with the key. But it doesn't lock the steering at all.

Wait...I got it to work. That's pretty clever. I always wondered if I should be concerned about locking this gem up. I know two people could probably still put it in the back of a pickup but this is interesting. Thanks Johnnie.

What's even more interesting is that this thing was bought as a hodge podge but one key still works for ignition, seat, and this lock.

Glad you got it sorted out. Sort of a clever deal too. I usually remove and clean it when I get a new project bike. Then it works slick.
