750K 1978 seat
« on: March 31, 2014, 06:48:51 AM »
I have had my bike a few days now and it is running good in the shop have not been on the road yet waiting on paper work. I need a seat and started to put a add in the WTB section but think I can do it myself if I can locate some foam and a cover. It is a 750K 1978 I have a good solid pan but the seat is one of those double saddle type not my style want to go back to stock. I see a lot on eBay but for the 70 to 76. If anyone has a lead for the cover and strap I could sure use it. Is it suppose to have Honda on the back and if so what color I have seen some of the older ones look white and some look grey but that could be faded? I think my local upholstery shop can do the foam.
 Thanks a lot

You should be able to find a 77 or a 78 seat without too much hassle.

you can easily recondition the pan, and then re-foam it to your preference.
there are a few aftermarket seat covers available.  check ebay.

I found a mint 77 CB750k seat for $50 shipped on Craigslist (distant) for my 78. Explore your options before paying someone to refoam/recover/recondition something you already have. NOS seats go for about what it may cost you to redo an incorrect seat...

The 77 has a flatter profile than the 78 seat; it's ideal for the 77-78 bikes IMO.

Thanks for the replies I did find this http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-CB750K-Seat-Cover-1978-Four-CB-750-CB750-W-ST-E-/171260301753?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item27dfe8d1b9 But who knows who to trust on the old inter web I have found 3 different (heat press) stitch patterns all say for the same bike &  year ::) Fender you might have a point I'm going to look for one maybe someone here doing a café. I would tend to trust someome here than eBay.
