I just picked this thing up a couple hours ago. Vintage flat tracker: Champion frame, Ceriani 35mm, Konis, Borranis, quick-change rear. Came with a early (1972-74?) kx350 Kawi 2-stroke single motor. I've been searching the Web for several hours and coming up dry looking for brake repair kits, new seat fiberglass (mine is cracked) and anything I can find out about Champion frames. I understand they were very popular back in the day.

Does anyone have experience replacing the Kawi motor with something like a Honda XL600? Or Yamaha TT500? In a Champion frame...

So, any dirt track racers out there with info on vintage DT'ers? This is a whole new ball game for me! Thanks in advance.

One other thing... Would this make a cool street tracker, or what!   ;D  RR

How about a Titan engine? The Suzy 500 twin was as powerful as the 750 in the day, and some slight port raising with slight head milling could put them into the near-70 HP range with torque starting seriously at 3000 RPM.
Just a thought?

Gawd, what an animal that'd be! I just found a forum posting where someone was considering just that but another guy recommended the rider keep the Yamaha 250 he had for the shorter tracks in his are. Whee, it's so cool to learn new stuff! RR

I've been doin' my due diligence... I "think" Omar's may make a street-weight glass seat for the Champion frame. I'll probably give 'em a call tomorrow. Yeah, a fly-weight street tracker would be cool... small LED headlights set into a number plate, unobtrusive tail light... But can you imagine getting that beast registered in California? What a witch! RR

Glass is sorta thin, but easy to just fix. 4 stroke swap is probably out, bottom of frame is too high.
Nice bike,be good on our vintage track. Front End is with a good chunk..
Here is a buddies bike he also has a champion frame that has been cut that he may put together.
