CycleX makes them I think.

More like adapters than replacements though.

They have 'replacements' that aren't as internally large, gimmicky IMO. If your hoses leak just get a set from one of us members, they rarely leak. I use black spray paint to freshen the fabric cover so they don't look dingy and gray anymore. Others use fabric dye but that is overkill IMO and doesn't work all that great anyway

Probably not a great idea because it will most likely crack in a short amount of time from vibration. Gonna have to be function before form in this case

Thanks!!! I have plenty. Just doin something different with this one. I see stainless lines and wonder how they're made if someone isn't making new factory type fittings.

I make my own from SS hose, reusing original fittings.

The threads at the tank are M22 and M24?  Not that easy and common to find tooling for that.

When assembling the Amen and other chopper frames, we cut off the fabricpart, then welded on an AN fitting.... A -6 or -8.=

The stainless is a sleeve, stainless braided, not solid like copper lines...

Grind off the crimped portion and it has a barbed fitting then use rubber hose.

I use hacksaw to cut through the crimped ferrule.  Hoses from hydraulic shop - the pressure is very small, but the hose needs to be able to handle hot oil - and ferrules from McMaster Carr:

http://www.mcmaster.com/#hose-ferrules/=tsf4j9

The crimp easiest is to find a shop that will crimp it for you.  Only one of the hoses needs to be indexed - i.e. ends have to be in certain position against each other.

I wouldn't think the oil lines form copper would encounter any more vibration than household water lines, which are very often made form copper. Really only requires you use a proper schedule pipe. Copper is also quite happy to have hot liquid through it. Just need to build some bends into the pipe to deal with the limited movement of the tank v engine.

Then you could braze new fittings to the copper and tap the cases or tank to correspond.

My house doesn't roll around much with a hard mounted engine so I can't compare notes but I still think it is a lousy idea.

Bikes with this kinda stuff on it usually don't get ridden anyway so it shouldn't matter in the end huh ::)

He could adapt these hoses:

 ;D

For some reason I think the rigid copper tubing would do just fine as oil lines; I used copper for air distribution in my shop and it is holding up well even the connection to the compressor.

But it would be a pain to install.

Edit:  I just remembered, the oil pressure gauge in my jeep is hard connected to the engine by copper tube.  I installed it many years ago, because it is more reliable than electrical pressure sensor and electrical gauge. The tube goes from engine to the dash and as I said it works without issues for 15 years now.

Nonferrous metals do work harden. If annealed it would work fine on a motorcycle or car. As for riding hope that wasn't aimed my way.

BJ - you're right, the water lines in your house don't roll around hooked to an engine, but neither do the oil ones in these bikes. They move relative to the engine as the tank and engine are bolted to the frame. The tank and engine can move very, very, slightly from each other, but copper is supple enough to handle the vibrations of water pressure changes, the thermal expansion and cooling, and would be just fine in this application.

The bends the builder would need to create would actual absorb the expansion and suppress the changes in distance. Unconventional choice, sure. Imprudent choice, no way.

Me, I'd use stainless tubing to alleviate the potential of leaks or corrosion/oxidation perforating the things, but, copper tubing is cheap enough and widely available that a repair could be done quickly from stock at the home center. Try that with stainless tubing...

I've seen lots of examples of copper being used for oil lines. Wrenchmonkees have used it on a few of their builds.
