Help! After Market Pistons and Rings!
« on: April 03, 2014, 06:26:01 PM »
 Hey guys,

I got the ol' 1978 Honda CB750k all tore down and engine apart. Found the culprit for blow by and low compression, a chip in the piston. I want to bore the cylinders out and replace all the pistons and rings instead of just trying to hone one cylinder.
I was hoping to bore it .25mm over or a 1st over piston kit. The honda shop didnt yield results, so does anybody know a good source were i can find this piston kit. I figured you guys would know a trustworthy company.
Please help!

Joe

if you want to go big bore, the ebay cruzinimage 836cc kits are hard to beat for $120. Lots of positive reviews on here. Only disadvantage is the cost to bore from 750 to 836. its multiple passes and thus costs more from just going .50 or 1.00 over

otherwise the other good deal that comes to mind is the Cycle X .50 or 1.00 over kit for $199

how does it work if you get the sleeves, do they just press in? and also if i were to go with the bigger kit, wouldnt i have to beef up the cam and valve springs?

I got my .50 oversize kit from David Silvers USA. Didn't come with the circlips for the wrist pins though, had to get separately. I was told by my machine shop that if I was going to bore out it would be best to go at least .50 oversize if the cylinders were out of round.
