Friendly Hello from Canada
« on: April 04, 2014, 11:00:38 AM »
Hi everyone!

Just want to start by saying this forum is great. Lots of info that has certainly helped me in pretty much everything.

I currently own a '74 CB550 that I bought last summer for... $550. Engine was not seized and seemed pretty much complete with 40k~ miles. A good carb cleaning and placing the jets that were unscrewed back with new plugs and oil and she fired right up! Here's a video of her running after the second start.

My dad and I plan to make it a CR750 look-a-like with the tank and fairing and so forth. Perhaps an overbore in the future.  ;D
As of now we've been buying parts in increments. Already have the seat and rear fender as well things that needed to be replaced (shocks, bearings etc). Along with that, I've been shining up some parts (forks, cases). No polishing wheel here so good ol' elbow grease will have to do!

Anyway, that's it for this post. Thanks for reading!

Chris

Welcome! Looks ok, hearing a bit of a tick though you'll need to check that.

Thanks! Looks like that did the trick.

I'll be doing all the engine checks once it's on two wheels. Any idea what could be causing that ticking noise? Cam tensioner?
