CB400f Carb butterfly/choke valve/plate bent?
« on: April 05, 2014, 09:24:14 PM »
Apologies, not sure on the part name but the butterfly valve/choke flap seems bent on carb 3. Sure this is not right but how may it be remedied given the part is very hard to source (in Australia). What may be the result in running with this issue and how is it caused as an aside. Main query is how to fix the issue.
Many thank in advance.

You could remove it and flatten it but, as is, it shouldn't have any noticeable effect on performance or starting.

Thanks for the reply, given my ignorance, I have to ask, it gets a little stuck lifting it up I guess due to it not being perfectly round in shape with the bend - this has no bearing on how it will perform either? The either 3 mate with the carb body perfectly whereas this one leaves almost a mm gap.
Appreciate the response.

well from your picture i can't see a bend.  looking at the face, i can't tell at all.  if you changed the position to choke is open, then I could probably see the bend.

Look between the screws, there is clearly a bend as opposed to the one on the right which is not.
