Front wheel is all trued up... less than 1mm deviation axially and radially. That was fun! Lots of oil on the nipples.

Now just waiting on my brake line from Slingshot, plus another package from a forum member. Rhonda's getting a set of play clothes (as my daughter would call them).

Took apart my clutch side switch to polish and grease the contacts for the horn and beam select switches. Nice and shiny now.

Front wheel is all trued up and centered, and disk is back on. All that's left now is to torque up the bolts and put back on the bike along with the handlebar. Rhonda will ride again soon! Next weekend I pick up my brake line...

Front wheel back together... torqued axle bolt to 45#. (this photo was before I did final torque on the disk nuts, that's why the tongues aren't bent over yet)

Wheel and bars installed

Bucket on, wires routed (Rhonda's puking after a long winter bender)

Assembled!

Now I just need that brake line, which I am picking up next Saturday.

Everything is all buttoned up... had to replace the headlight fuse, but everything works and the AGM battery was still above 12V, being stored indoors all winter. Great battery!

BUT THEN...

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.

It's all still holding, but this one holder for the new headlight ears CRACKED. I've contacted the seller for replacements...

Just need some fresh gas, and I'll do a clear tube check before riding.

That was a good catch. I had a headlight bucket break (with a HEFTY die-cast Truck-lite housing) while I was riding once. It was no fun having to cradle my headlight for 40 miles.

Looks like the sidecovers I got from edwardmorris were originally orange flake. neat!

Going to work on getting as much paint as possible off these, and then picking out what colour do to them with. Not going to be too fussy with leftovers, though... going to be rattle-canned.

Rhonda rides again!

Went for a quick shakedown ride today after setting float heights. Glad to be back on the road with her.

The bottom of the meniscus sits right at 3mm for all the carbs. I measured them all off the same carb so they're as equal as they're ever gonna get! They all had to come up about 2mm.

Pro tip: If you want to raise the float height without removing the float (and losing your needle) each time, you can reach in there and give the tang a pinch (to lower it) with some long-nose needle pliers. If you need to lower your fuel level, raise the tang up with a flat screwdriver. The hose for mine is made with an old drain plug that I cut the head off, and jammed onto a piece of 1/8" fuel line.

This wash made me realize that VHT Header paint really sucks.

Going to wrap those crappy MAC headers soon, then look into getting a stainless set made/purchased. Maybe Hindle.

Also need to touch up the black engine paint.

I didn't sand blast but I had removed everything with chem stripper. Also notice the grey primer is holding fine...

I haven't heard the Hindle on a 750 but it sounds great on the 550 and 650.

Gave Rhonda's jugs (hehe) a clean, and spot-sprayed some flat black engine enamel. Next will be touchups on the pipes.

I set up my progressive springs with the recommended amount of fork oil from the factory manual (rebuilding from dry), as well as the 1" PVC spacers. My forks are now topping out (hearing a ka-thunk after going over a longer bump with some speed). Is it just too much preload for my weight (170lbs)? I just find the ride is overall more harsh than before.

Should I just try running without the spacers to reduce preload?

What weight oil? I'm 175lb (after a good buffet lunch

), using factory spec amount (rebuilding from dry) and no spacers with 10w30 diesel engine oil, the front is damn near perfect.

I did not use the spacers on my K4 and all is good. And used ATF.

I think I'll take my spacers out, then. See if that makes a difference. They just feel super stiff now, front end feels harsh. That to me says too much preload.
