Not yet Tom, but surface mail is slower than a wet week at my mother-in-laws, ha ha! I'll let you know mate. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Guys, please take this in the spirit it is intended...I gather Steve was a good "bloke" who found alot of humour in everyday life so I am not intending this in any hurtful manner...someone emailed this to me so I assume some of you would have already seen it...

ODE TO STEVE

A bright and brash Australian
The "Hunter" was his name
And all those slimy reptiles
They brought him wealth and fame
Some said he was a looker
To girls, he was a dish
He knew everything 'bout crocodiles
But #$%*-all about fish...........

The wife and I went a day early to the autoX I ran Sunday. Saturday night
I had the tv on in the room and on Animal Planet they had a great show with interviews
with Steve and his family. Really was a fine bloke as you Aussie say.
His family seemed really down to earth and has had their share of tragedies.
My sympathies go out to them.

As tasteless as that poem obviously is, I near pissed my pants, I'll guarantee that it was written by another Aussie, ha ha!

Actually, there is a lot of truth in that last couple of lines, you see the area that Steve was filming around has a problem with Tiger Sharks supping on Stingrays, and the 'Rays there are a lot more aggressive, so the theory is that the 'Ray that killed steve was used to sharks, and when Steve swam over it, the 'Ray probably thought it was a shark looking for a meal, and attacked.

Local knowledge could have saved Steve's life, unfortunately. Great poem, but I'm still sad about his passing............  :'(

While it's always possible that some dickhead has taken it upon himself to "avenge" Steve, or a trophy hunter has decided to cash in and sell stingray tails, but they could just be unrelated incidents, there was normally very little media attention about dead stingrays until Steve was killed, and for all I know, those 'Rays died of old age. Not that I'd ever suggest that the media would beat something like this up, either? Cheers, Terry. :'(

At least 10 dismembered Stingrays in the past week? I wouldn't chalk it up to coincidence

Yeah? What are the stats for 2 weeks ago Loco?

Well, one thing's for sure, Steve wouldn't have wanted anybody to start "taking
out" animals of ANY kind, much less Sting Rays. I dare say that the name, "Crocodile
Hunter", will be remembered for some time to come.

Yeah, that story was on the news again last night because they're having a public memorial for Steve this weekend at his zoo where his immediate family and friends buried him privately a few days ago, and one of his mates said he hoped no-one would be stupid enough to do something like that. Cheers, Terry. :'(

I watched bits and pieces of that show that Animal Planet just ran. This guy was the real thing. He did things no one had the balls to do. For the first time I saw his hands, no two fingers are alike. I guess getting that love bite was part of getting to know the animal.

We could only hope to leave such a cool legacy behind.

Interestingly, over here when a celebrity dies, there's usually a flood of joke emails taking the piss out of them, for example when Princess Diana died the jokes started almost immediately, so I guess it's a sign of how sad we all are at Steve and "Brocky"s tragic deaths that the only joke I've seen so far was the poem here a few posts back. Apparently Steve's wife Terri is still too traumatised to talk to the media, it's very sad indeed. :'(
