Something Seriously Wrong - Advice Please - CB750 Fuel Delivery
« on: September 13, 2006, 04:45:01 PM »
I could use some advice and a source for some much needed parts. I have been very pleased with most parts and items purchased for the CB750 K4. It's been an economical bike to restore and modify because most parts are widely available.

There is 1 really odd exception - the 8 small "o-rings" or gaskets they are called that go between the 2 pairs of carbs are not available. Not only can I not find them, their cost is $20 list per 2 piece set? $80 for 8 small o-rings???

Where can these be found? Does the aftermarket supply them? What should their cost be?

I've got a leaking 3/4 joint and nothing short of a new pair of gasket o-rings is going to solve it.

Input appreciated.

Thanks,
Gordon

you may try taking one to a decent auto parts store. they should have loose o rings. you could match up the size. make sure they know it is for fuel. the fuel will eat up the wrong type.

If there is a Motion Industries shop in your town, take one by the city desk, they can match just about any o-rings.  I get o-rings for the valve adjustment caps from them.

Also try a natural gas supply shop. You'll get 10 for a buck. I found this out after buying one for a fuel injector on my jeep for $24.00. >:(

According to my really old parts book, those "o" rings are part number16173-044-004 and are 7.8 x 1.9 mm try www.westernhillshonda.com

I had the same problem about a year ago and like others have said I simply took an old one to an auto supply store and came away with 10 for a buck or something like that. :)

I read somewhere that you can buy green o-rings for air-conditioners that are resistant to fuel. You could buy an assortment of these and probably find the right size. I don't remember where I read that but you might look into it.

There's a guy on eBay who sells these for the 350F/400F, with and without float bowl gaskets. I bought a set -- no issues.

I just checked his current auctions and no such luck (although he is offering a front caliper piston for some unGodly amount...).

Now, if someone can tell me where to get the 400F fuel transfer tubes to which the o-rings mount, I'd be a happy camper...

Guys, thanks for the input. I called Western Hills and Terry has those on the way. You were right too about the cost - that included an entire gasket set, not just the o-rings as shown in the parts fiche. O-rings from them are $1 each and the cost of postage.

I really appreciate the help.
