Cb500 from Miami,Fl
« on: April 09, 2014, 10:10:20 AM »
Hi guys, I'm Luis from Miami. I'm a young kid who finally got his first project bike.I've never really had any experience with bikes before besides helping my younger brother with his atvs. I have helped a few friends with their bikes, a 250cc sears puch a yamaha xs650 and recently a cb400.Finally decided to search for my own bike, a cb500 that had a cb550 motor swapped in but isn't running.Picked it up for $800 w/ title.  So far from what I can tell the carbs need to be rebuilt and the tank needs a new petcock. Front brake doesn't work at the moment might be frozen. Electricals work fine and the gears seem fine. It's basically what I can tell at the moment from what I can see. Pretty excited about working on this bike and get it running. Hopefully I can get some help from you all and get to know the people here.

Welcome!

Click over to FAQ section and download manual. Ask right questions and you'll get plenty of responses, especially oil type to use.

Take carbs apart and clean everything. Metal pieces can be saved and reuse. Plenty of orings kits available.

And bunch of other things to do, use search function
