setting timing with electric light
« on: April 10, 2014, 06:04:49 AM »
I haven't posted here for years...a testament to the advice I have received from the forum members.
I have checked the FAQ for Ignition and Lloyd's posts on the subject; I can't find my honda  service manual CD.
I am trying to set the static timing on my 550K, using the light bulb method. new points and condensers, points gap set to 15 thou.  If someone would post the instructions for this I would appreciate it

Disconnect condensors. Connect lamp lead to points power for 1/4 and the other to ground.
Ignition on. Turn the engine with the large 23mm nut. Light should come on when the 1/4 F mark is lined up.
If it doesn't rotate the large timing plate until it does.
Same again for 2/3 except use the smaller timing plate to align the F mark.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.
