where can I get a longer front motor mount bolt?
« on: April 10, 2014, 10:08:00 PM »
I want to mount some case savers on the 750.
One of the anchor points they use is the long bolt that goes under the points / stator. It's M10 x 320mm or so (like 13in)
I need a longer one. About 2 CM longer.
Been googling for about 1/2 hour. Can't find anything.

Any ideas?

Contact your local nut and bolt store. Not a hardware store, a dedicated nut and bolt store.

Would not be as pretty but in a pinch you could cut down a section of threaded rod with nuts/washers on each end till the proper length bolt was discovered.

I  think from memory Yamiya sell the longer bolts separate to the engine crash bars.
I think I saw them for sale somewhere else as well but I can't quite remember

I figured I'd wind up threading my own.
Didn't really want to buy a die, though.
Dunno if I'd use Alu for that. Would it hold up to the torsion and compression?

Of course you are not going to find one on the internet.

The best way for you to get that bolt without resorting to all thread is to go to a motorcycle junk yard and they often have boxes of engine mount bolts that are from different metric bikes that ARE longer. Works for me all the time.

That is if you want to do it right. Take the short bolt with you to compare.
