crankshaft oil seals install

Must the cases be split to install two main oil seals on crank - CB500/550? Replacement seals have a substantial retension ridge on inside OD.
TIA

Thanks for your responses, bryanj. This is as far as I go... Speedo in the basket indicates 15k miles and by what I have seen and measured on this motor it's plausible. I'm getting ready to reassemble with fresh rings, lapped valves, honed cylinders, cleaned carbs and seals & gaskets everywhere possible w/o further teardown then you see here. I've got a fresh cam chain on it but am waiting for another soft link from DSS since I wasn't pleased with my first attempt using new rivit tool.

I've seen a primary totaled in 18K but just drop the sump pan and inspect the oil galleries visually and with finger, if no grooves from primary chain its ok for now, just if you split cases anyway it takes less than 5 minutes extra to fit one
