K0 and K1 engines
« on: April 13, 2014, 08:18:02 pm »
Hi all, could someone confirm that the heads, barrels, pistons and rods are the same between the the models?
My K1 has serious issues and I have been offered a low mileage K0 top end.

From what I can see the big changes occur in the K2.

Thanks in advance.

The earliest heads and barrels were different from all others.  Not only were they sandcast, but they also lacked the 'extra bolt' in the center front of the head.  Pistons and rods were all the same until '77/'78 K & F's.  Early K1 and earlier heads had hand porting from the factory...Hondaman has written about these changes if you do a search.  You should have no issues using the parts you mentioned on your K1.

So if it has the 6mm bolt from and back centre than all good?
