Yes, the previous post was of the info & pics I took when I saw the bike 2 weeks ago. Just spoke to his Mom (he lives in MT). Told her I would consider the deal if he got closer to $1K. She will let me know...here are a few more pics I took. Guess what I would take off the bike first???

The bike does have a few good points and I would give him that for the top.I really won't try to burst your joy but it is a mix & match of parts that'll have to be removed and sorted out to bring it anywhere Near Original,but if you don't care about that then if you Do buy it...,(offer him $800 and walk away) I'd leave the CL scrambler seat alone along w/ the aftermarket mufflers but remove the luggage rack(unless you want to carry stuff) and those Big size tires(the bike'll handle horrible w/ those 'wide riders' on a 350) and then do the restoration job on it that it needs.

grcammna - The seat on there is the CB seat. The CL seat would have the rivets at the bottom, right?

CL tanks are longer, with a shorter tank too.
So you can use a CB seat with a CL tank, but it will have a gap between the tank and seat.
Can't use a CL seat with a CB tank.
This goes for 450's as well.......

I could be wrong on that being a CL seat..,maybe aftermarket? it just seems to climb too high up onto the back of the tank to me...
Johnie,take a look at other comparable CB350K4-5 photos and see if they look similar,to me the CB seat is flatter in front and meets the back of the tank a good bit lower. I have the same CB350K4 bike as that one w/ the original seat.

I did bring this 1972 CB350 home this afternoon with 6,500 miles. The guy came down a lot since I looked at it 3 weeks ago. He started at $2,000 then said he would take $1,700. I walked...then got a text he dropped to $1,500. Told him I would do $1,000 and we agreed on $1,100. Started to dig into it today since it is 36 degrees and windy. Gas was off and carb 1 was empty and spotless (pic). Carb 2 had just a real small bit of gas in bowl, however, the rest was spotless. The petcock is leaking when you move the valve so I will replace that. Minimal rust on the bike. Should be able to start this very soon once I get the petcock and oil changed. Plan to toss a battery in tomorrow to check electrics. Oh, and Stev-o how do you like it with the rack off?

Now with the rack off I need to buy the left side grab handle.

I'm glad that the PO 'got real' & went down in price

,I have many different parts for that bike in my storage,so far it's my main one...I just need to get down to storage and unpack stuff(I just moved in there this past Winter & been waiting for the ground to dry up so I can lay boxes outside),I know I have that little L. side grab bar so putting it up on the main stand will be easier.

grcamna - that is great about the parts. I am needing the grab bar for sure. And you are correct that is not the right seat cover on there. Will not worry about that for now. The brake pedal is bent pretty good so I was thinking of trying to bend that back into position unless you have a good one there. Looks like I will need the fork ears and covers at some point. I was actually hoping to find those in the green, but probably will have to paint. Let me know what you find and I will Paypal you... many thanks for the help.

I replaced the 3) rubber seals(rebuilt)in my original petcock because the standpipe and reserve screen were in good condition and that was over 3 years ago and it's still good.I think they're still avail. from Honda.

Alright Johnie. I think you came out ok at $1100. Handful of guys back in HS that had these. Used and abused them, but very durable bikes. You will put it through the Johnie routine and this little bike will come out looking a gem!!

grcamna - thanks for the info, I will see if I can get those petcock seals from my dealer. Hall & Jerry - those 350's were popular when I was in high school too. However, I could only afford a new 175 when I was a senior. I figure now is my chance. And as fate would have it, this 1972 is the same year I graduated high school. The seat is really nice, but I can see a OEM seat in the future. The OEM seat cover looks like my K1, but the hinge is on the opposite side and the lock is different. That is to bad as I have a real nice spare K1 seat in my parts bin.

Am pleased with how the tank turned out after my first polish. It has the usual patina of paint nicks, but I am happy with how she looks. The side covers are cleaning up nicely, but will take a little more effort.

Stev-o...I did it all by hand. I put a battery in tonight to confirm all the electrics do work nice with the exception of the front handle brake light. Rear brake light works fine. Even the starter works real nice. I think they had some issues with the starters on the 350 or was that just the early ones that would slip?

I've found on the different CB350 twins I've wrenched on that a few of them had very low miles like yours(and mine),that the starter clutch wouldn't release or catch if they sat for too long;they'd make a kind of funny 'howl' noise at times,mostly from being dry.

Cal...thanks for the feedback. My plan is to keep it. Something about the 350 from my youth I guess. I am looking at this bike more for fun and not a profit. Trying to make a profit on these bikes takes all the fun out of it.

And thanks for the tip on the uppers. I will check it out.
