I can't read the neck tag, but it is very possible that is an SS (the description on the neck tag would say CB550F). It has the right tank anyway. The '75 550K had a different tank shape with an external filler neck and cap. It also has different side covers and slightly different frame (the passenger peg section) I believe. That also looks like the correct exhaust

My 0.02 The price is a little high, more like an $1800 range (unless they are getting rarer here & I am not up to date), probably springtime affects the price too.  As started by others, a more modern bike will give better reliability AND fuel efficiency, my buddy's 800  Boulevard gets over 25% better gas mileage than I do :). Let us know what you decide on.

Then something is wrong with your bike. I averaged mid 40's (mpg) on my 550 and hit over 50 a couple times on longer trips. I doubt your buddy's 800 is getting 60mph on his Boulevard.

That said, a modern Jap twin 250/300 twin can get in the high 50's low 60's mpg.

Nothing wrong with the bike, but I was riding aggressively on that trip :):) and maybe rounding figures a bit.  He has fuel injection & a larger tank.  That being said, I can never get over 50, must be the wind..
