Ok Johnie you need only a Sandcast, K1, K2, K5, or K6 to have the compete set. Whats going to be next

Already got the K1, but titled as a 1970. Jerry has that great K2 and Hoodleyhoo the K6...we should get a pic of them all lined up someday. Not sure where we would find a sandcast near here, but I can keep looking. Would be fun to line up the sand cast through K6 for the photo. My sons wife is a pro photographer so we have that all lined up if we can find the bikes.

Pipes came out nice, what all did you use to clean them. And at the risk of been laughed at, why is it called "elusive #2 pipe", grime from the chain.
Also I have a set on my K6, #1-4 are HM431 and #2-3 are HM300.

Mark I used some degreaser at first to get all the oil and gunk off the pipes. My son use to work in a boat detail shop at the coast and he recommended this stuff. And by the way the pipes came out I would say it works pretty good. I'm stoked these pipes look near showroom shape even if they are 40 years old.

I looked for a decent #2 341 for over a year and finally found one in Australia( with the help of forum member Stev-o). other members here are still looking for this hard to find pipe(thus the elusive nickname).

Well it's been quite a while since posting anything here on my K4. I got this bike right at 2 years ago now and Ive got to get this thing on the road. It's great to have other bikes to ride but it can be a hindrance also. It so easy to put the project bike in the corner and forget about. I don't know if anyone else is like me but I have to be in the right frame of mind to work on my bikes. The carbs have been sitting apart in numbered containers in the garage forever. My OEM Honda carb kits came in the other day so just got done rebuilding them and getting them reassembled. On vacate all next week so hoping to get a lot done. Here some after pics of the carbs, just a slight difference of what they looked like a the beginning of the post.

Yes, with multiple bikes to ride, it's too easy to "slack off" on the project bikes!
It's been over 3 years since I bought my K1, not much has been done other that gather some parts.

Yep, with 11 bikes now (and enough bits to build a couple more) time gets away from me too, but as long as you get a little done here and there, that's probably good enough. You don't want to become a slave to your hobbies, you need some riding time too. Cheers, Terry.

It sat in the PO basement for 30 years and in my garage since 2014. Been working on it most of the week and today I couldn't wait any longer. I took her down the road for the first time since 1986. Still got stuff to do but running good. Here's a pic out on the road

Only thing that's not working is the starter switch. Right now you have to start it the old fashion way the ole kick start. By what I have read here looks like it might be the starter safety switch that the K4 has. Some owners say they override it with a jumper wire. Ever run into this before Steve.

Yes, had same issue, turned out it was the starter switch. Have you tried jumping the solinoid with a screwdriver?

Had the same starter issue on the K4. Would work occasionally. Removed the starter and the brushes were worn pretty bad and the brush debris in the housing did not help either. Put a spare in and have this one ready if I need it. She looks pretty nice on the road there hall!

That's what I like to see hall is a pristine and clean oil tank. I do the same when I get one. How to you like the Catrol 20/50? Planning to change mine to that or the Shell 20/50. Still have the 10/40 in mine.

I still run 10W40 in the 77 Wang but been running Castrol 20W50 in the 750's for a while now. I like it. Don't get me wrong Im going to get new tires. I wouldn't feel safe doing much riding on these 40 year old ones. Bridgestone in front and Continental in rear so I guess the rear has been replace sometime through the years .But Im surprised at how good the thread is and no dry rot or cracks. Rode this bike very little so far just down the road and back and still have things to do to it Johnie like get front brakes on it

But I can tell this K4 is going to be one sweet ride. By know means a show bike just a nice rider like my others.

Ok guys here is a short video my son made of my K4 starting for the very first time on 4/24/2016. It took only 2 kicks after being idle for 30 years

Amazing! Mr Honda built these sohc4's good!! The yell you hear is me.

Rebuilt the m/c on the K4 tonight. Not a whole lot to it, I've done all my other bikes also

And good to see you used OEM parts hall. I have never had an issue with the OEM parts leaking. Not so true with the aftermarkets.

Got caliper and new pads on plus new brake lines on from Slingshot Cycle. New tires should come in next week. Just a few more little things to piddle with and tags and insurance and the Boss Maroon K4 will be legal again and road ready for the first time in 30 years.

Last inspection was done in June of 1986. After bringing this bike home April 2014(never said I was fast)I think it's about time its ready don't you. I'm sure Marcia wants go for a ride
