I thought you couldn't get the sprocket on the cam, my Ape one was like that, very tight and had to dremel a tad off the inside of the sprocket so it would go on, just a tad.
No, I could get it on, but just couldn't get the chain on it.
I was following the method in the HM book, holding the sprocket on the #2 side of the cam chain, fishing the cam through, and then lifting the chain on. I just couldn't get the chain all the way up on the sprocket.
Jerrys method put the sprocket on the #3 side, and then fish everything through.
I think the issue was the lack of wiggle room in the cam chain tunnel. With the sprocket on the outside of the chain, it jumped on easily.
I had trouble getting the sprocket with the chain installed up onto the carrier of the cam, but a temp torquing of the center cam tower bolts gave it room. No dremel needed.
Yes, my tensioner was NOT installed.
