How did your day start
« on: September 20, 2006, 06:28:28 AM »
Mine started off with some dude in a pick up with a trailer full of landscape equipment not seeing me at the stoplight and ending up in full brake lock up, and then totally jackknifed right behind me. Scared the crap out of me.  :o :o :o
So how did your day start out today?

Glad he finally saw you!
My day started with me getting all bundled up and ready for a cold (47deg.) ride in to work. Then the wife asked me to take our youngest daughter to school. Dagnabbit. >:(

Seems to me that this type of stuff is happening an awful lot. Almost not a day goes by that I don't read or hear about another biker getting creamed by an automobile. Why can't people just pay attention to what the hell they are doing, especially when driving? I mean is that phone call, hamburger, or whatever so important that they are willing to risk their lives, not to mention mine? Where the hell are peoples heads these days? My recent experiences have made me believe that their heads are not on driving safely and actually paying attention to what, and who is around them while they are driving around.

Man Bruce! That's what, twice in three weeks? Better mount a flashing light on the top of your helmet!

No bike (boo hoo, it's at home 1000km away), no car, so I walk to and from work every day, 4.5km each way. My route into town is alongside the Alaska Highway so I get to see all of the oil patch traffic and the tourists heading up to Alaska.

There are still a few die hards riding their bikes, notably a fellow on a first generation dohc 750 and another on a '78 Suzuki GS1000. The Suzi guy took his road test yesterday and passed on his second attempt. No sign of the cruiser crowd.

Chris,
You are right. That is twice in three weeks now. Dusterdude I think you are correct also. It seems to me that the general attitude with car drivers is " to damm bad for the motorcycle rider, he/she should have been driving a car anyways". Why can't we just conform to what society wants us to be and quit being such a nonconformist by riding a motorcycle.
Sometimes I would like to be carrying a medium sized ball peen hammer to maybe help a person remember that they are NOT the ONLY ONES ON THE ROAD.
Chris this happened at 28th and the beltline. I was waiting in the left turn lane to turn on to the beltline and start heading north towards home. I heard the brakes lock up and the skidding behind me and I took a quick look only to see this idiot and his truck skidding towards the rear of my bike. I quickly moved forward as far as I could, fortunately for me it was enough. Then to top it off some jackass in another truck pulls up next to me and looks at me and says " I'll bet that was scary huh?, I felt like punching him in the eye and saying " I'll bet that hurt huh". What a moron.
