Dumb question #14 crankcase gasket
« on: April 17, 2014, 04:49:58 PM »
Am about to split crankcase on my 750 K1.

None of the gasket kits seem to show a gasket for the two halves?

Am I missing something?

Sorry if this is a another dumb question.....

I believe Hondabond or the like is what folks use there.  I used threebond 1194 on my 550 cases.

Yes.  Clean the case halves well and use a non hardening gasket/sealer.
Hondabond.

Permatex ultra black?

Why does it not have a normal gasket?

Where they originally made with one?

There's no way to make a "normal" gasket, several shafts go through and a gasket would be in many pieces - plus how would you seal the ends of the sections?

Pretty much every bike engine crankcase splits through the shaft centres, and seals the cases with similar goo.

DO NOT use silicon. Excess bits break off inside and clog engine oil passages.
