As promised, update on gauge refurbishment.

Tach had all the damping oil leak onto the back of the gauge plate. At some point PO must of stored tach face down, Speedo was OK.



Bought a syringe with the largest gauge possible. ever try to force 30 000 centistoke silicone oil through a needle? Tried to thin the oil using heat...no chance.





Didn't take a pic of the hole I drilled at the top of the canister, but here is a pic of the filled canister sealed with black silicone. Probably took 10 minutes of squeezing the syringe to fill the canister 3/4 full. Drill was from neighbors ancient gas fitting jet drill kit, chose size slightly larger than needle.



New faces, not the correct blue, but nice.



New plates are more transparent than original, look okay at night though.



Gauge partially reassembled. Used testers model paint to repaint tips, looks like exact match to un-faded paint under needles.





The trim rings seem too thin to crimp easily, when the gasket are in place I had to use this PVC fixture in the vice to squeeze the new shrouds to the gauge base to get enough overlap to crimp with a screw driver...major pain. Had to install new glass too as the PO had welded near the bike and pitted the original glass. Upper gauge housing were dented so I also replaced them too.



Apparently it gets hot inside a gauge when out in the sun  :)
