Is it really? Well, bugger me, they didn't just use an upside down 6? Look at that, me learnin' #$%* all over the place now! This thread will descend in to being actually helpful if you keep this up mate.

Goodness Noddy,

even when people are trying to help, you can't resist taking a swipe at them. And you have done that to a lot of good guys here, ones that are very knowledgable and inventive and who certainly have my respect and admiration. Do what you want with your bike, it is yours, but take it easy with the vitriol, please.
Here endeth the sermon, go in peace.

Yep, fair point there Kev. I was generally commenting on the farce that this thread has become, but you're right, Retro helped me out there (whilst still calling me names, or alternatively asking if I knew someone named numb nuts... punctuation can be important sometimes...but I digress), he did help, and I do genuinely thank him for it.

Peace would be delightful.

What you intend to do with your cb750 is an infinitely less popular trend...

You know that Miley Cyrus is popular too, right? Doesn't make it good... Is my bike standing for election? Trying to sell platinum records? What the #$%* do I care about what's "popular"?

There we go, fixed this thread right up again.
oh, ok...so you are just happily steam punking away in a vacuum?  You don't care what anyone thinks about your plans?...not much reason to go to all the trouble of posting pictures and responses then, is there?
If it works good, it looks good...

These exchanges got me to thinking, a rare event indeed unless drink and girls are involved. No I am here in VFourfreak mansion pondering Australian culture, and how much I have learnt from the members here that I would like to call mates.
Previously, coming from a sheltered upbringing, my knowledge of Aussie culture was limited to the crocodile Dundee movies and some very iffy TV series. I have been brought right up to date by the lads on this forum, and so for instance I now know that a "Map of Tassie" is not a cartographic aid to navigation. But it is really the ability to be concise and succinct that I appreciate, and when the Aussie approach to life was summarised for me by a member who will remain nameless in order to spare his blushes, I had to print it out on an appropriately sized piece of paper and now I carry it around with me in my French man's man bag. And so in times of lousy strife or when I have to deal with the ex (usually the same times) I take out that postage stamp and read the four words printed on the back "Harden the fcuk up". Thank you lads, it bears me through many an off day.

Funny you should say that dave. Knowing little about Steampunk, I decided to educate myself on the topic, using young Mr Wales' font of knowledge. To my alarm I discovered :

"Steampunk also has a growing following in the UK and Europe. The largest European event is "Weekend at the Asylum", held at The Lawn, Lincoln every September since 2009."

How queer is that ?

The first one was an exercise in learning mechanics etc, this one is more geared towards fabrication, so I'm learning to weld and fabricate etc.

So... how did you come by all your expansive knowledge Jaguar? Just born with it I assume?

I recall the Monty Python "Summarised Proust Competition" sketch where one of the contestants was asked what were his hobbies outside of summarising Proust. He replied, candidly no doubt, "Well, strangling animals, golf and masturbating."

In an aside, the judge commented "He must have let himself down a bit on the hobbies, golf's not very popular around here, but never mind, a good try."

I'm beginning to wonder if there is a parallel here ?

This thread takes me back to grade school, watching everyone pick on the new kid. Noddy is holding his own, though. ;)

And I'm rooting for him, even if I don't agree with this Steampunk thing, which after my education at Mr Wales' hands seems to be a bit iffy. Reminds me of the New Romantics of the 80's

In my opinion, anyone who's ever painted a bike in psychedelic colors (during the 70's or otherwise), has lost all right to #$%* about steampunk.  ;D

Cheers Kev, but don't get too caught up on one word there (it seems to be a common issue round here), it's more Steampunkish. Well, to be fair it's probably more just steam-era inspired. But, let us not let facts get in the way of a good lynching, it does so ruin the vibe.

Oh come on.  That would be throwing Yoshinobu Kosaka under the bus!  I'm not such a big fan of a rigid, but this one's got a few cool things, and I happen to like the paint job, even if I never would have it on a bike I own.
