In my opinion, anyone who's ever painted a bike in psychedelic colors (during the 70's or otherwise), has lost all right to #$%* about steampunk. 

Oh come on.  That would be throwing Yoshinobu Kosaka under the bus!  I'm not such a big fan of a rigid, but this one's got a few cool things, and I happen to like the paint job, even if I never would have it on a bike I own.

That bike is killer.
Paint may or may not be everyone's taste.
But the killer part is there is substance under the paint.
It isn't a stock bike that is painted to call it "built" or "custom"
There are amazing parts on it and interesting and thought out fabrication and mods.
Real meaningful work was done.

VFourfreak is well into the Vat of Muscadet and is rigging some Zaunkönig torpedoes. He's in an ugly mode so stand clear when he pulls the trigger.

I recall a lesson from physics class many moons ago, before being banned from those classes for some inventive experiments of my own that went horribly wrong. The lesson was, Steam is good for generating heat but not light.

So this thread has served it's purpose, and with the power vested in me by, well . . me, I declare it derelict and adrift in the doldrums liable to summary destruction.

I am thinking of opening a thread called the "Betting thread with impossibly long odds" and opening it with a punt that this project will never turn a wheel in anger.

The nautical theme seems to actually fit this thread rather well now ! I don't think however a steamship is the appropriate vessel to think of, at least they move.

No I think a sailing ship is a more appropriate simile (or should that be a metaphor) and I think naturally of the Marie Celeste, adrift her sails flapping limply in the wind and the crew vanished with their meal left uneaten on the table. In my mind's eye, that is how I view this project, going nowhere and to all intents and purposes, vacant.

But look, I feel my words are inadequate, feeble even. We Irish tend to express ourselves better through dance, music and song. (Which is why you all have been plagued by Riverdance for 20 years now hehehe) so I thought to find a suitable sea shanty to be the theme of the thread, and I found one. It is even more appropriate because there is a muppet at the helm. Enjoy it me hearties.

No better words spoken ! This either moves, or gets sunk.  Shame it's night time in Oz, Noddy is probably tucked in with a nice blanky and so not much will happen today. I tried statesmanship and that went nowhere, so I got to hand this over to VFourfreak who is now totally incoherent, lobbing bottles out the garage windows, but at least he has the torpedoes ready.

Tomorrow then : high noon Noddy ! I'll get up especially early for the showdown.

To answer your question : No luck whatsoever in finding one in France, apparently Betty Ford Clinics are only located in the US; California Colorado and Texas appear to be the locations. Clearly the need is greater there. Mind you, all day long I have been drinking water and Coca Cola (from a tin) so that hardly counts as  "alcoholism and/or addiction to other drugs". So politely to you, I don't believe I need to "begin the exciting journey to a new life at the Betty Ford Center".
As for that bollox down the garage, who knows ?

This thread is a wasteland, might as well have a bit of fun amongst the ruins. Life can be a bit crapola at times, it helps to have a bit of a off slant view, sort of Aussie view I think.

Vfour - you're welcome anywhere I go. Please do being along some first growth Haut Brion though. I'm a sucker for quality Bordeaux. We will gather up some of the members over there and make a pilgrimage of atonement to Noddys. Then we can all shake hands and be gents again.
