I'll be very interested to see the gauges. Your comment has me speculating about the type, function and whether you will engine a genuine sensor to convert KPH from Nautical speed. Now that would turn heads!

I am not generally a fan of the aesthetic vernacular, but do greatly appreciate the fabrication and thought of some of these bikes. I'll be watching with optimistic anticipation on your design and creativity of integrating design elements into full functioning components.

Benjie of Benjie's Cafe Racers recently did a SP themed bike. Didn't impress me as much as some others because it was a slight nod to the aesthetic and not a completely thorough build-out. Hoping yours will be much more complete.

I saved up a few pieces of eight and thought id blow it on a new combination knots/fathometer instrument panel.

Very usefull gauge indeed Dave. It shows clearly why your CB does not handle so well. You need to pump some ballast for'ard and take 2° off the stern diving planes. That should sort it for you !

I am sure I will love your gauges. Trouble is I turn 57 this year, not sure that I will be around to see the finished article at this rate.

My KLR-riding brother has decided to quit his job at the salvage yard in favor of more proper employment, and that will likely throttle back my ability to root around and pick up treasures for pennies. The good news is that I've been gnawing at the grapevine, and the grapevine tells me of a new-and-used hardware store next to a local marina that should have JUST the thing.

What he shows here is Photoshop job for 30 minutes, while most of the time is spent picking the font, for somebody who "dont do computers" that maybe a reason to crap their pants, but there is not much to it, really.

 If there is an impressive design or skill I will give credit where its due, but showing something like this is just pathetic.

Not sure what "FB" is? Is that a reference to Facebook? If so, I don't use it.

Regarding the gauge face, as I said, I like the look of it. Interesting to me, if it is a true vintage instrument, that 200+ was referenced. I suspect it's not vintage, but a new creation and that Noddy is using the tannic acid in the tea to "age" the face plate. A clever trick I haven't seen for many years. The gauge face is consistent with the MotoGadget ChronoClassic. Again, I think it's well thought through.

Regarding the use of bold, it was purely for the clarity of you reading and discerning my responses from your comments. I trust my use of English meets with your approval. I do try to be literate and well mannered when conversing with strangers. Not always successful mind you, but I do try.

So noddy, how many kilometers do you ride your 350 "thingy" in a week? That bike is finished and road worthy, right?  What was your latest adventure? 1000 miles iron butt, coast to coast non stop?  How often do you ride your creation?

Why thank you sir. It is indeed a new face design, then aged with a special concoction of tea, red wine and balsamic vinegar. I don't think this particular face is the final one, just a little pic of the process (some folks seemed to be getting a little impatient to see something)... Whilst I agree with Troll that it's not particularly impressive, I never professed it to be. Just a little whimsy of mine. Like the rest of this project...

Let me help you out as it seems senility might be setting in for you... cast your mind back - way, way back - to the wilds of nearly one whole month ago... god, so much has happened since hasn't it? It's so hard to keep up these days...

My first bike, the one at the very start of this thread, is my only form of transport save for a shared car with my partner. If I’m going anywhere on my own, I take Isabel. I’ve put over a thousand Ks on her since I ‘finished’ (less than a year ago). To put this in perspective, I work from home, I live about 10km from the centre of town, and it takes roughly 200km to ride from one end of the island I live on, to the other. It’s not a big place, I don’t ride for 700miles at a stretch, and nor do I need to.

I was wondering about that too, but looks like its an early proto. It's got kmph on the outer rim, but the numbers look way off. Still, looks true to form for SP though, nice trick with the tea bag too

I'm utilising the bulk of the existing speedo and tach, just putting in new faces, replacing the needles with clock sweep hands, brass-plating the bezels, and turning the rear covers out of Huon Pine and Tasmanian Blackwood. Everything is calibrated to the existing km/h tick marks from the original face. From there it's just a matter of doing the conversions and putting new ticks in the right spots.

But 30 minutes with photoshop will do all that for you, as has been clearly elucidated for us.
