Dang - I was in Tassie for a couple of weeks recently and I did not think to drop a line and call by for a personal admiration of the work.

I get nothing but black x's on this thread.  Sounds interesting from what I could read.

If you are checking in via an office intranet a lot of comany security filters block photos from sites like Photobucket. I often have to switch over to my phone to view pictures when at work.

Hi Folks,

Yep, house is almost sorted, builders only have another few weeks to go. Then there'll be a few bits and pieces I'll have to make, and THEN... back onto the bike! The new workshop as of a few months ago (about as bike-relevant pics update as I've got!):

Okey Doke... House is built, garage is mostly put together and I can start fiddling with Douglas again (the actress said to the bishop). Just in time for Photobucket to go crazy on me.. so looks like I'll be spending some time rebuilding this thread too... in the meantime, finally got my welding trolley made and got to do some little touch-ups on the frame:

First I needed to make something to touch it up with...

Hmm... wrong kind of touching up... maybe they'd work better here...

Still got some tidying up to do, but the general idea is there.

Now, off to rebuild this entire bloody thread...

That looks pretty damn good, Noddy.  Have you thought of plating the frame?

The plan at the moment is to go a textured matte black powdercoat, to match the rims.

Nice.  I was just thinking (wildy) about all of your finished embellishments and thought, "Damn! A nickel plated frame would be killer!"

Yeah, I've ummed and ahhed a lot about the frame finish, and I love the nickel idea, but I think the textured matte black will work a bit better with all the other black, and feel a bit more like iron. Plus hopefully it'll cover up some of my less-than-pretty welding skills...

There are some clever finishes you can do with chemicals and heat to raw steel that will give it a dark iron look, like metal blueing and such. Or galvanising.

And I hear you on Photoshop - what's with the "pay us money now so others can see your photos you have shared for the past six years".

There are some apps you can load on Chrome or on FireFox that have been written to work around Photo_ucket's block.  They work for now , and will continue until Photo_ucket will modify things to block that workaround.  It changes the image request to look like it is a different type of image request, allowing them to be processed and displayed.  I would recommend you add them and then go about uploading the images directly to replace them so they do not go away in the future.

That is looking so nice!  I also have been considering nickel, I just dont think ill have the patience to get the frame 'perfect' enough for it  :-X

I like how you capped off the lower subframe. I did mine a different way, but kinda like how yours has more 'weight' to the bottom bar.

Hey mate, that's pretty much the plan for mine. I don't like the 'capped' look personally, just looks like someone hacked off a bit of the bike (oddly enough), so I'll be doing the same thing you have. I assume you just welded in some tube cut in half(ish)?

Just read through this monster of a thread.  Solid work from the OP.  The initial hating was a little ridiculous.  Good to see you are pushing through.  Can't wait to see this thing finished.

Yep, I just cut a plug out of some spare tubing, shaped it pretty close, tacked around the outside and went to town with a metal file
