Noddy, I ran across this Guzzi today at a Waffle House outside Knoxville Tennessee. I showed the owner some pictures from this thread, he dug them

OK, final wiring almost done and we have lights (again)! Hopefully this week it's getting it all into the battery box and hooked up to the m-unit and we (should) be away! Also been playing with tarnishing all the brass and copper bits as it was kind of looking like a Christmas tree with them all shiny...

What a thing of beauty! After you finish, you had better start building shelves for all the trophies you'll be collecting.

Just curious..did you finish your bike, Noddy?  I would love to see some "stand back and admire" shots if you have.  Such a glorious project.

Just found this thread, started reading the very first page and jumped to the last to see what has transpired in several years...very interesting! Probably the only bike that I'd say has "warmth" with the brass, metal and frame details. Love the velocity stacks!

Yeah, sorry for the radio silence, I've been meaning to post up some progress but have just been a tad busy. Yup, Douglas is complete, now currently going through the registration process (which is turning into a bit of a marathon - only one engineer in the state who can certify it and they live 4 hours away, so he only comes down every couple of months) before I can get it on the road. I've got a dodgy first start up vid, but I want to do a proper "stand back and admire" final shoot once everything is fully squared away, then I'll post up the pics!

But upshot is he started 2nd kick and runs pretty well. Had some hiccups with 2 cracked carbs, and I had to pull the motor out again after a few heat cycles to re-torque the head bolts, so there's been lots of tweaking and tinkering but nothing very pretty to look at.  I've still got some carb tuning to do once it's on the road, but in general, so far, so good...

Pics to come... ;)

What a wonderful result, Noddy! It's been a long time coming, but the outcome is purely magnificent. Highest marks from this side of the pond  :D

Well done, to say the least.  Hard to believe you started this thread in April 2014.  I remember the beginning well for reasons that have happily faded away. I am glad you persevered, and stuck with the project (and the forum).  I wish I could see the bike in person.

You have been nominated and seconded for Bike of the Month, so go get it!

Btw very nice job, I like many others was a skeptic.............but you pulled this off beautifully.

Heh, I think I'll leave that well alone Gunther... Thank you all for your kind words. It's been a bloody fun project (though still the odd kink to work out, so not entirely over yet), I'm hoping the next one goes a bit more quickly though! Now to get the video sorted...
