Ha ha, well it might be an old thread, but it's timely for me mate, so thanks for that, I'm going to install some bronze swingarm bushes tomorrow, they're in the freezer now and I'd considered tapping them in, but now I think I'll find some threaded rod and do it properly. Cheers, Terry. ;D

If you have a vice that opens far enough you can use it as a screw type press. This is how I installed mine. First I started them with and piece of wood and a hammer. Then pressed them in with my vice.

Thanks mate, I've got a big vice, but it's not that big! I suppose I could use a big "G" clamp too, but the threaded rod method will do me. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I've used threaded rod with washers and had no trouble at all.
This is how I do all my bushings, head bearing races too.

I decided to use the threaded rod method, but machined up some drivers to make sure they went in nice and straight:

Here's the whole assembly, ready to go:

By first freezing them, then using a sanding drum to remove any powdercoat residue and lightly greasing the inside of the swingarm they wound in really easy, with no "mushrooming" to worry about:

Here they are, looking good:
