Speedo drive 750K5

Today I removed my front wheel so I could give the disc brake some attention. (I cleaned the discs and the pads with brake cleaner because I got some wd40 on them and the brake wasn't gripping well.) Anyway, I think that the speedo drive was loose and could rotate on the wheel axle before I took the wheel off, but after I put the wheel back on, the speedo drive was tight and would not rotate. Any ideas?

I don't mean the speedo cable, I mean the whole unit around the axle that the cable plugs into.

good chance you do not have the speedo unit tangs lined up with the slots...Larry

If you didn't loosen and retighten the axle nut, then its still OK. The drive is fixed to the axle. When its free of the forks it spins with the axle but not on the axle. When you clamp it back up you have to set it in postion before tightening the clamps.

IF you think about it, if it spun ON the axle, only the speedo cable would be holding it still and that's not right.

After riding in to work, I checked the unit and it was perfectly cool, so no issues.
