mystery valve springs (PHOTO ADDED)
« on: April 18, 2014, 10:48:25 PM »
I have 2 mid-run 750K parts heads that I've collected over the years. On one, the springs have more room between the turns as compared to what I know to be OEM springs.

I don't suppose there's any way tell what they are?

Uber lame diagram:

Imagine these are springs laying on the bench:
Mystery = N  N  N
OEM      = MMMM

Great Vocabulary Photo ;D ;D ;D  Heavy Duty springs usually are accompanied by special retainer caps...........and maybe special valves.  I assume the cam is long-gone.  Try and post a pic..............somebody on here knows..................

no suspicious markings on the head - just the standard HM factory stuff.
no cam.
inner fit the outer fine.
valve caps are identical as far as I can tell.

photo:

OEM is on top (w/ the paint marking)
the non OEM have a rougher surface and are noticeably more difficult to compress by hand.
