What the fricker-fracker.....it's snowing!!!!
« on: September 15, 2006, 08:06:55 AM »
They told me that the weather up here could be 'variable', but snow on September 15th! It was -1c yesterday, but dry, so bearable. Kind of glad I took the bike south two weeks ago...... It'll be interesting to see how many of the faithful will continue to ride from now on. This is very much a 'cruiser' bike town.

Well, not quite that far north. Actually Fort St.John is only about 2/3rds of the way 'up' the province.

I'm helping out at the driver exam office here in town, until October 20th.

You're right, Bob. I was thinking in absolutes, I guess. We're closer to the US border than the Arctic Circle. And it is chilly!

It's nowhere near as cold here in Michigan, but the weather forecaster used the term "arctic air mass" for the first time this season. I guess it is headed our way next week. Tomorrow and Sunday are supposed to be in the 80's though, go figure. :-\

Fret not and keep the faith!

In Calgary we are getting white rain right now too! This is my favourite storm of the year because after the cold snap/stormy September weather, it all clears out and the most beautiful time of year arrives - Indian summer!

It gets and stays warm up until mid November, then warm and cold until Christmas. You can ride well into November and last year I rode every month and I went Christmas shopping on the bike.

Oh yeah, I forgot! Because the nights are less than 10 Celsius, the grass won't grow. Hate mowing grass.

Every time I go to Calgary people there say that it can snow in any month of the year. It always seems to snow when I'm there, anyway.

I have lived in Calgary since 1974 when I arrived as a refugee from Toronto (that should light it up!).

Yes, I have seen snow in every month of the year - not just flurries, but the shoveling kind! It is a pain in the butt when you are camping in July and it is +1 Celcius. However, I do love riding in the + 15 C in January! It works both ways.

Funny but we have the same 5 minute wait in Calgary that they do in Wyoming.

I sure as h better snow in Whistler - you only have 4 years left until Olympics!! You need to practice!!

All the best,
Marty
