Newbie with a K0 tank question
« on: April 21, 2014, 02:57:02 AM »
Hi all, I'll get straight to the point. I'm clearing out my shed and dug out a tank that I'd picked up years back to use on a project but then used a different one.
I knew it was a CB750 tank but didn't know that apparently it's quite rare?
Here's the pictures, it's currently on ebay.

As you can see, there's a wrinkle in the filler neck, and four dimples on the underside for the carb tops.

Two things, firstly what is a realistic expectation for the value? The tank isn't perfect as you can see.
Secondly as this is an owners club forum, would anyone from here like it?

I hope I haven't offended or crossed ay lines with this first post. Not intentional if I have. I simply thought this would be the best resource to ask.

I wouldn't say it's rare, I'm sure there are literally hundreds if not thousands of them.

It's in poor cond but could be refurbished, worth a couple hundred.  Put an ad in the for sale section, you may need 5 posts.

Good luck.

Here's the list of sales on eBay http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=cb750+sandcast+tank&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc  That should help in your research. Cliff

I thought the wrinkle tanks were limited in number, like sandcast only? Even if it were sandcast plus K0, most of them are attached to bikes, so a free agent is harder to get.  OCICBW

I had one and traded it to Terry for a non-wrinkle that I wanted. (Left side petcock) He bot the non-wrinkle off eBay from Canada, and paid all the freight. Including mine to Australia. Equivalent was maybe $300+. He seemed happy to get it.

I was under the impression that a rough one would go for $500, a nice one for $1000. A non-wrinkle about 1/3 of that.

If you list it on ebay say you will send overseas.
Someone had one on here with filled side emblems, wouldn't ship overseas and it only brought. Less than 200...good luck

The last one I watched sold for $400 a few months ago. It was decent inside and out, but did need paint. Like everything else it depends on the demand at the time. I actually thought it would go for more than the $400.
