My cb750 K5 Restore
« on: August 22, 2014, 11:50:46 AM »
Hey everyone, I thought I'd share my build thread here.  This forum is great!  Lots of valuable info.  I did the build thread on cb750.com.  Not that I think it's a better forum, just that I'm a regular on xs650.com and Travis is a great guy and runs these and a couple of other forums.  So I thought I'd put my build thread there and fill up his forum with some great info I've learned here.

A little background.  A couple of years ago I sold 3 bikes for extra cash to buy a house.  One of those bikes was my wife's cb650.  She's been riding by 78 xs650 since, but I wanted to build a bike just for her.  So I picked up a cb750 K5 off of eBay for $350.  Essentially I bought a good motor and frame with a title, the bike needed the full treatment.  It's been almost two years of work and I'm finally at the point where I'm doing the shake down/trouble shooting rides.  Currently the tank and covers are painted with gray primer.  The plan is to do silver with pink cherry blossoms (wife's choice).  She also want a fairing and saddle bags.  I'd love to do a full stock restore, but that's a lot of time and money, so I'm going with period correct/looks stock mostly.

Anyway, here's a link to the thread.http://www.cb750.com/threads/595-CB750-K5-Restoration

Thanks for the link to your rebuild.  I have a 1974 CB750 that is now running and I am doing some additional work to before making the "deep dive".  I really like your exhaust system and the way the bike is turning out.  I am going more for a restoration on this bike.

I do have a 1971 CB 750 that if we still have the energy and money it will be a café build.

Hey, nice job. It's rewarding to see it through to the end. Cheers.
