Howdy fells,

My name is Trey Allen Nalley, and i'm a Sohc4 builder from Texas! This is my first post after reading for many years. So let me start by thanking you all for the unlimited sources of information!

Recently a friend sent me a text stating he knew someone, who had a land speed/drag  72' Cb750K..Along with virtually every performance part from its time,Four rebuilt motors.. and a huge pile of Nos and OEM parts.
I did what i had to do to seal the deal, came home with my entire truckload of product, and began the adventure..
Before I opened any of these "rebuilt motors" I had to organize the parts box's i had..

     I was fortunate enough to locate- A hilborn mechanical fuel injection(with manifold for A turbo) ARD magneto,Russ Collins intake manifold,Vintage oil cooler, finned covers and lots of really great stuff!
After that excitement wore off i started to open my motors, Now this is where it gets a bit Tricky.. So follow along

    The very first motor I opened had a very unique top end. I pulled the valve cover off to learn that this motor had brand new aluminum ratainers, and new high tension springs, and a very nice high profile camshaft!

As the jugs came off I layed my eyes on the coveted "GOLDEN RODS"...

I am only 24, have been building strictly honda's for 4 years. These are the types of things you only read about on these Forums!

So as I opened the rest of the motors I came across even more "amazingness", another motor- another set of rods- they were said to be custom bored to "883cc"
   
*Although One set of jugs I removed seemed to have larger pistons, the jugs were stamped "TEAKLEY" and where the normal "736cc" stamp layed was just the number "1000"

The cylinders look to be sleeved and o-ringed

Im just looking for more information and advice!
So my real question is how amazing is this lot of parts I just received for under 4k?

I am going to bring this bike back to life with the help of the original builder I have located. I am going to turbo charge it like it was originally, and attempt to hit 200mph at the Flats this year

I was so happy to find this rare stuff, so I had to share it with the only people in this world who would understand!

Yes there is interest. Interest in what you are doing and what you have and where you are going. Sounds like you hit a motherlode in one swoop. Good find. Hope you take care of it properly.

At the moment I am waiting for the original builder/owner to come visit me here in a few days, once I get a little better understanding of how these motors are set up and how i'm going to run them, i'm sure i will have a lot of let over pieces.

I am already debating on using or selling the ARD magneto..

That being said I wish to invite any advice to help me make this dream happen, I'm not sure witch meet i am going to yet, as i still need to build this dream.

My neighbor was kind enough to give me a brand new t3t4 turbo in the box.. As well as the original owner* Kevin Draper* went on to create Majestic turbocharge- The top name for performance turbos in Texas and throughout the states.. So with that, the turbo idea is in pretty good state.

Missed the last ARD, put me on the list..
 The Goldenrod motor might be 1055 or 1080 cc.

Well when I finally got the owner on the phone( after many calls and a returned phone call) I could piece a few things togeather

He claimed they had a custom bore of "883", and the one set of Jugs I had that were stamped were definitely modified by someone here in the states.

I am about to open the 4th motor, so far I have 2 sets of Golden rods and a regular set of RC stamped  rods.

I also noticed one of the motors had very flat pistons, someone had mentioned that these were for the turbo build and that the other dome shaped ones I have would be too high of compression..

I'm in New Braunfels! Right in between Austin and San Antonio. And yes a guy called me the other day and was saying that RC manifold looked like it fit his weber's perfectly.. Not positive though

The four motors range in years from 69-77.

Sometimes they wrote the riders/ customers name on them. Also engraved there own work. You might sell quicker and easier if you set a price, first one gets dibs. Don't know if an ebayish approach will help you as much as putting them out there. Example, bought 3 sets of Golden rods last 6 months, all were @ $100.00 a rod, last set was $470.00 shipped, came with crank! No good though.
If you're going to remove them,probably have to grind a socket to fit, and use a HEAT gun!
My .02. Nice find young man, you did well. $350.00 - $400.00 good deal, more than that, may have to go eBay. But show these guys a price, you'll be selling tonight! Good luck, Bill

Agree. You say you know what they are worth but that's what they are worth to you. I don't have a clue what to offer. I'd probably insult you.  I know what I can get a crank done for which I was planning on doing so I could use a crank. I have a new set of Crower rods but wouldn't mind a set of Goldens.

Thank you, I sold a 70mm stroker crank with RC Golden rods about two months ago....to a forum member Medyo Bastos for $750.00! And stroker cranks real rare. If you want to maximize your money then ebay will give you a better return. I just like helping people out and knowing the parts are going to be used by an enthusiast. eBay, more money, also more hassle, I sell, buy on ebay under bellcow54. Dude, if you can get $1500.00 for a crank and a set of rods, used, I know look new, but aren't, wow go for it, seems high to me. Jr. Is busy!  I can give you dealer cost on all of it. Also Kenny @ CycleX does same work, for @ $200.00 if you send a good crank. I just saw a set of Webers not sell on ebay twice cause $500.00 was a little high. Remember we zealots on this stuff, but the market is limited. Still, good luck and PM if you want prices, ex Webers complete with manifold cables etc listed D/C for $287.50. Medyo will buy that manifold....worth a hundred,after that ? A set of Golden rods sold  for $200.00-250.00. Distributors, $249.00. Got old catalogs , could email you a price list. I sold Jaguar a magneto for $300.00 a week ago, Sold Jr, well, brokered the deal, 8 NOS Goldens for $800.00 a year or so ago. We'll buy, no hassle, paypal quick, just want a mutual good deal, Bill

If you want 700 a set you have better have new in package bolts, and PROOF that they are still round, or it will come back on you.. Used racing parts.
 Used RC. Crank, even a stroker, can't see 750 for it unless you had proof of how much it was run., used racing stuff
 You have to figure out rod length as well..stock...or stroker.

Yeh, sell em for $1500.00 on ebay, let buyer send em to Jay, like Medyo did with a set like you are offering. Rut row, rods ,big end no longer round, crank magnafluxed and what cracked multiple places. So think about who do you think eBay sided with, used RACE parts can come back to haunt you. And eBay will take there side every time....something about not as stated, misrepresented etc. Be careful, you've got good stuff, just don't get greedy, it kills! Try a few parts on here ,see  how you do, my .02, thanks, Bill

Besides everything mentioned here you can get brand new Carillo rods for under a grand with warranty, Cycle x super rods for under $600 and fresh machined cranks from APE and Cycle X for a couple of hundred dollars up too $500 and thats warranted parts. Last Year i bought a second hand set of Carillo rods {better than 40 year old golden rods} and after receiving them they were no good to use, i got most of my money back but as they were bought from an US member of this site i lost badly with shipping and had to still go through all the bullsh1t involved in explaining what was wrong with them to someone that didn't know that much about them and probably shouldn't have been selling second hand engine parts, i feel Your parts are grossly overpriced, i do like your enthusiasm though.... PS, I have a pile of RC parts as well, cranks and rods and other bits and pieces including catalogs , even have the receipts still...   Russ's son Russ Jnr is also a member here...
