The early cb400f pegs bolt right on the cb550 frame. The shifter side is perfect fit but the right side needs a bit of grinding to make space for the kick starter.

Not quite.... see the link above. You need to heat and bend the brake lever and find a 550F kicker. I like flipping the heim joint on the shifter side, too. And I've had to slightly enlarge the hole for the locating pin as well.

I've never used them on a 550F model. You may run into issues with the way the F model brake pivot mounts, among other things.

The Tarozzi stuff is nice and well made.

Haha, I think I've got a fanboy thing going for Kott too. I made my seat after his design as well.

They worked just fine, Sean. They have oilite bushings and were very smooth. I welded a bracket for them just above and behind the stock foot peg location. I ended up removing them because I was getting back and hand pain. I'm pretty short so the rearsets gave me too much hand pressure and they would go numb after about 20 minutes, even with oury grips.

Can you show me how you made the bushings?

Damn, this post was from when I was just a lad.

I didn’t make the bushings, I used bushings from the hardware store that were the correct size.

I flipped my 550 mounts over and cut off the peg mount. Then I used 82' Honda V45 Sabre peg mounts welded on.  I was able to use the stock pegs with a little grinding. The Sabre peg mounts have a remote shifter and it fits. I shortened and bent the brake pedal. I don't have to prove anything so the kickstarter is ornamental. No pictures because they are still in pieces after paint.

Okay so essentially you drilled and tapped the pegs and threaded a bolt in from behind the aluminum plate? And the bronze bushings sit on it between plate and peg? What size bolt did you go with? Assuming SS? And what wall thickness for the collar that the levees are welded to?

I’m gonna copy that but use slightly different pegs and bolt the assembly to an aluminum bracket which will bolt to my passenger peg holes.
