So I ordered a new valve cover gasket to try to correct my leak. And I'm going to try to replace it doing the valve cover lift technique with the engine mounted (no frame kit on this bike). I know the gasket is not symmetrical, the only difference that's easily obvious is a small notch along the inside of one of the thicker "shoulders" of the gasket. This is my mark.
OK, so you're sitting on the bike facing forward, you're looking down at the top of the valve cover. Is the notch in the gasket to the left (clutch) or to the right (brake)? I don't want to get it wrong and ruin a gasket by overmanipulating it.
Also any prep I should consider on the gasket itself? Keep it dry? Soak it in oil maybe to get it softer?
