Topic: petcock is hard to turn

I just bought a used petcock for my 400/4 and it's super hard to turn. almost impossible I should say. i took it apart and it all looks good. is this something that will cure itself once fuel is passing through it?

Normally this will cure itself when the petcock is fuel lubed. You might just want to try it. If it's still too hard to turn, the rubber seal inside has hardened.

Try submerging it in a small closed container with some fuel overnight.

You might also want to check the condition of the metal piece that turns against the rubber insert, as if it has corroded it can rough up the surface and this rough part will grind away at the rubber insert. It can usually be cleaned up with extremely fine grit emery paper.
