After selling my C400f last year the riding bug bit me again. Even though the cb400f was indeed a fun bike i wanted something with some more hoomph. I have been on CL overtime since January trying to find a CB750 but i had only 2 options a really pricey original one or something hacked up and too custom for my taste. Well Sunday was my lucky day and i found one for a great price. I did not wait a one minute called my buddy since he has a truck and headed our way to West of Madison. The polite man was the original owner he bought it brand new in 1975 and took very good care of it. The windjammer was installed at the dealer he bought it from and so was the seat. Sadly he did not have the stock 4 into 4 muffler. I just removed the windjammer and redid the wires for the blinkers and headlights to bad i have to order the stock headlights since the one on the wind jammer does not fit. I just ordered a stock reproduction seat since that seat is all kinds of yuck. Plans are to keep it original since its very good shape and it would be a shame to custom the bike to my liking.

Looks good, but you just gave up your opportunity for a Purple Rain special -- just needed to paint the Windjammer, sidecovers and the tank purple!

Looking forward to your 75 build. The bike looks pretty sanitary, other than the Windjammer and seat mods.

Any particular direction for the bike build?

Lol purple rain special. Bike is going to stay where its at. I ordered a reproduction seat and just gotta find the headlight ring. Also i will be swapping the handle bars for a low rise style.

Congrats, love the Planet Blue K5. Good decision taking off the firing and ordering the seat. What about the exhaust?

thanks love the blue as well. But Sh!t man them reproduction exhaust are hell expensive. I'am keeping these for now as the carbs have been jetted for these. Ill be saving my pennies till i find a good deal.

ok some small progress i got the headlight trim kit on sat and wento wrenching right away. Well yeah the wiring was a bit of a damn headache i must say. Due to having the faring kit there was quite a few wires spliced in huh. i decided to pull everything out and since i was going that far i might as well install my low rise bars that were on my old CB750 DOHC well here are the pics. Also forgot the owner gave me the owners manual and that had the wiring diagram LIFE SAVER! that helped me a lot. Fitted all the wires cut the ones that were spliced for the fairing and it worked. Sadly it was getting late and i had to hit the gym before it closed but all the lights worked as it should, Tomorrow will have the headlight sealed and wires tucked back in there place.

Glad to see someone on the forum got that bike and that you're not going to cut it up. Jerry H and I are talking about finding a day this summer to have a wisconsin sohc4 gathering in the Kettle Moraine area. Maybe you would be able to join us?

could not be anymore happier. All lights are working except the day time running lights for the signals im a bit confused. The right side comes on but the left one does not. I checked the wiring diagram and noticed 3 wires coming off it. I only have 1 wire coming off the right side. hmmm any tips i am sure i can figure it out but after spending a few hours i just wanted to cruise for a bit. Hell yeah i'm down to go to Kettle Moraine maybe my bud will join us with his Harley. I think its time for some cleaning and polish some tuneup and replace any worn out parts as time goes. I cant wait for my seat to come in that will add to the finishing touch.

lol wish it was a job i volunteered for. The clutch went out on it when i was going to go out for a ride. Luckily it was just a few block down from my parents house. I knew something was a bit off with the bike the little times i have ridden it my buddy also noticed it.

no steampunk going on here but its a neat idea. I got the clutch in and after some adjustments to the clutch cable the cb was on the road again. Wow what a difference it makes!

Might be a good idea to hold onto it. If you go on a long trip you could mount it up for comfort. Hell, once you leave town nobody knows who you are out on the road.

I can see it now. When we all get to be 70 we will be whining about how dumb it was that we threw out all the K&Q seats.

Looking good! Glad to see you have the clutch issue sorted out. How many tooth rear sprocket is that? Maybe its the camera angle, but it looks larger than standard? Wonder what the front sprocket is too?

So where is WI are you located? (I'm in the Appleton area, 30 min S of Green Bay)
