I just had a brief exchange with Matt at RideRACE Tech. Top-notch company, expensive as all get out... Which I think puts their very effective suspension out of my budget. That may get added to the list of "daydream" parts that I wish to obtain someday. For now I think I'll do a basic rebuild on the setup I currently have. Their fork rebuild setup wasn't insanely priced, only outside of the current funding. Their rear shocks are awesome, piggy back style starts at $1300 though... 

Who out there employ RideTech on their ride and how are you finding it so far? I might end up sacrificing on other parts that I wanted to build in order to do the front forks if I can be convinced that it's worth it.

More stuff comes from the powder coaters soon, see picture of in process parts below!

Do you mean Ride Tech or Race Tech?  I though Ride Tech only did suspension systems for cars and utvs.

I have Race Tech springs and gold valve emulators in both my 750 and 550 bikes.  In my opinion, they greatly improve the stock suspension.

I think $1300 is about 10x more than I wanted to spend on new shocks, but what do I know about buying them?
Race Tech custom makes them for my weight and riding style and some other factors, but that's a lot of bones to throw down.. I'm almost out of things to sell to keep funding this project!!! There's still quite a bit that needs attention before I can get spendy...

Those FOX shocks look bloody great, I really dig that piggyback shock look.

Forgive me, Don, I'm not well versed on the internals of the forks... Somewhere, back in the day, the PO changed my front end (and swingarm...) on my 71 to a 78F front end with the Comstar wheels and double disc setup up front and disc brake out the back.
Matt gave me a quick and dirty on the front end setup he recommends but he reckons it ought to be $725 for the parts to properly rebuild my 78 forks.. You've obviously done it before, what all are you recommending? I think eventually, maybe after saving up for a while I can afford the full race tech setup but the necessities are dwindling my spending money on this bike and I'm very anxious to get working on it so I can ride it again.

The only difference between my price and the ones you show are that I was pointed toward the FTNK 0050547 TNK fork tubes 35-585mm to match the ones I have (forks are from 78F) and they're $183.25 each one, total $366.50 for the pair.
Otherwise you and I came up with the same cost. Where are you looking for the fork tubes?

Cycle X.  I got mine from Forking by Frank for less than the TNK tubes (overkill).  Cycle X sells standard 77-78 tubes for $120 (http://www.cyclexchange.net/fork_tubes_and_accessories.htm).

He makes really great quality side covers -- and much less of a wait than LPM.

I was surprised by the sturdy construction of the new covers. Comparing them to my originals they're heavier and feel quite stout
