CB500 Running Light
« on: May 02, 2014, 07:49:02 AM »
I tried a search, but this might be one of those so simple it was never asked sort of Qs. So I was riding last night, and another driver at a red light lets me know my tail light was out. I always assumed I didn't have one...

Does the 72 CB500 have running lights? Are these supposed to go on when the headlight it on? In the wiring diagram, the tail/brake light has the ground (green), brake light (green/yellow), and another wire (brown). Is the brown supposed to be the running lights?

I'm no US expert but I thought running lights were just the front turn signals.
You say "last night". Was it dark? Did you have your lights on?
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

He told you your "tail light" was out. It's part of the brake/tail light. Replace the bulb and you should be good.  "Running lights" only on the front on these models.

Just had this come up. Check the bulb first. You should be able to see the bulb filaments and if they're sti good.
Its a sealed light so use a good rubber sealer when you replace the lens.
Check all grounds and connections and renew if needed.
I had an electrician spend 4 hours trying to figure out the running light after I redid the. Ack wiring on a 550k3. Right after he left I found a 15a fuse in the 7a tailight slot. I would take a look at all the electrical if its not the bulb.

On the topic of running lights, I've been having this on going debate about the front signal lights on 550K3. Do they stay on with a factory wire setup?

Ahh okay! I suspect it is the bulb then, as the brake light itself works. I have a spare, so I will swap it out quickly and see if that fixes it.
