Major Oil leak ? (Update)
« on: May 22, 2005, 06:04:36 PM »
Hey All,
I got the center stand off the 72 500 and fit perfect on the 78 550. I had to put the rim on the 550 off the 500 (New Rubber). Plus the hub on the 550 was rusted bad. It seem's to be lined up right. So after putting the rear wheel on and the center stand I started it up and oil blowing everywhere. Not from the counter sprocket this time. It is pouring out the center of the head in the rear and look's like a bolt just came loose. There is a bolt in the 500 where the oil is coming out the 550. Can I just size up the bult and put one in the 550 to stop the leaking? Or take the one from the 500. I'm taking off the front wheel and fender to swap out also. It is starting to look like a runner. I need the smaller headlight bucket than the 500.

Thank's

 Paul

Could it be the cam chain tensioner bolt? It is pouring out the back inbetween the carb's.

It is the top bolt that is missing from the tensioner. I'm glad it is nothing major.
