Taillight Conversion
« on: January 24, 2012, 09:12:59 AM »
Hi there folks, just wondering if all you CB gurus can help a noob out. I'm looking to keep my 750K7 build as clean as possible, so getting my signals off the sides of the bike is a necessity. I've found a rather cool LED taillight/sequential signal combo on Amazon for a Ducati Monster, and it's listed as a direct plug and play replacement. I have absolutely no clue what the wiring for a Ducati looks like, but I'm wondering if there's a relatively straightforward way to use this on my CB?

Here's the link to the tail light, btw; amazon.com/1994-2008-Ducati-Monster-Integrated-Sequential/dp/B004KB83Z4

Thanks!

I put one of these on my 750 F bike and it worked great.  You will need to do a little simple wiring to run the turn signal wires into this harness but really rery basic wiring job

I don't suppose you, or any of the fine folks here, could give me an idea whats involved in putting HIDs on a CB? I did a bit of reading while I was researching bike ideas, and came across the cafe'd CB350 with HIDs from Girl with the Dragon Tattoo; very interested in trying that out, if it's feasible.

Can't comment on HID, but here's a cleaver LED headlight option.

rjyblood, I'm trying to hook up this same tail light to my 75 750f and I'm having some trouble. I hooked the light up to a test battery to figure each wires function, but I cant figure out how they correspond to the wires on the bike. ive got green, brown and red going to the tail light, and a pair of black wires to each signal. the light has blue and yellow for the indicators, red for stop, white for run, and black for ground. (I think.) any chance you can guide me through it or have some kind of diagram?
thanks!

The issue with HID's is fitting the whole thing and the related ballast unit on the bike. Somebody here has one fitted to their bike and I recall that he couldn't fit the lighting unit in the stock headlight shell because where the bulb fits in the reflector sticks out too far.

You should be able to pick up a Ducati Monster wiring diagram on-line then just match the colors from the light to the correct colors from your bike.

Somebody here uses that all in one combo on his builds and apparently there is some kind of trailer adapter thing that makes it work properly. Supposed to be like 13$ or something for the piece that makes it plug and play to the stock harness

I don't remember who he is and am currently too lazy to do the searching for you. Top left search bar is calling your name

At a previous job I sold Tractor Trailer (Diesel truck) parts. A lighting company called TruckLite sells LED headlights that are a plug and play replacement for most all style headlights. They cost quite a bit more than $50 bucks but they are built to last and halogen lamps are no match to it. Aluminum housing and polycarbonate lens. First generation was 5 led low beam and all 10 led for High. Second gen I haven't gotten to play with yet but I believe its only two LED and pretty slick looking.

I got the Monster tail light to work on my 750f. I traced the mess of wires that was there back to 5 wires just behind the battery. From there I added new wire to reach the harness on the ducati light. The indicators didn't work until I swapped the stock flasher with a heavy duty one.
