« on: May 04, 2014, 10:26:52 am »
Hi Chaps, I’m trying my best to replicate the Honda CR.  BUT I need a starter motor. So I’m deviating from the original. Now the million dollar question. Where do I place a battery????? What batt do u guys use for a total loss electrical system????

If your only powering ignition, and 1/2+ hour will do; then a Lith/ion should fit under the swingarm, and behind the case.  Probably last longer, than that, but need to hear from someone using that setup (bwaller??).

I use 8 cell lith/ion batteries on total loss. They probably would last 45 minutes depending on ignition draw.

Mate, these lithium batteries are awesome , amazingly light, install any position sideways , upside down , got to be carefull with your battery charger type,   dont lose much charge with time eg 12 months   for a total loss system I dont know  if there is a better battery,
Oh I didnt end up running it in the starter hole , the suggestion under the swing arm sideways sounds like a good idea, I just posted a pic to give you a feel for an 8 cell.
cheers johno

if you are going with lion, your bike better be fine tuned for easy starting, they tend to loose quite  a bit of power after three-four tries.
with current EFI bikes this is not a problem, but with a old carbie one it could be.

im all for gel ones these days. sure not as light as lion, but amazing cranking power.
