Yeah, that's about where I'm at on it.. I'm just worried about braking in the motor(s) and getting some kind of trial run before I take it on the great Journey..

Well Fellas!

After a long day, I'm a hell of a lot further on all of this than when I woke up..

Made a drive up to Waco to meet up with my buddy Kevin Draper.

Having learned that Kevin has done the turbo systems for a lot of the worlds fastest machines(including Andy Green's sound barrier breaking world record) along with Don Vesco's Turbinator!

Safe to say this build took a leap forward, He happened to even have a beautiful 72' 750 with a 69' motor, ATP turbo system, and a self made magneto!

Not to mention a record holding Top Fuel Harley, but that story is for another day and thread  ;)
Here's some pics I got around the shop.. Lots of help with the Hilborn and T3T4 today as well!

Last picture is of Mr.Draper(blue shirt) and a buddy detailing his Top fuel drag bike!

Oh...I believe we need to team up. My best friend is the current salt expert and builder of the of several of my race bikes, not to mention the chassis for the Triple. He must have dozens of salt records himself and builds for others..all told prolly over 50 records.

We will work together , God willing. RC Legacy wants very much to go to the salt and you are singing our song with your choice of equipment.

Randy Nelson and I will look at what you are doing... And that is a good thing.

"I have the gods of motorcycles shining there rays on me. I intend to make them proud."

You're getting attention from the right places................This looks to be quite a year in the making for a gathering at Bonneville in late August.

When you begin to set your belt-ratios.............I would think you would want to avoid any sudden bursts of power..............that is what breaks traction on the salt.  I've never ridden a big-power turbo-bike, but I would think you would get into 5th-gear somewhat aggressively (early in the run) and let the motor build speed in top-gear for the timed mile...............That's what I hear when listening to several of the top competitors making their runs on the salt...............they tend to get into the higher rpms in 2nd gear and stay at that rpm level to avoid turbo-lag.

Those are interesting points Dennis, Hopefully in the next few weeks ill have my funds together to get the rest of the parts from Hilborn. As well as a manifold made for my turbo. Draper is going to really dial in those two pieces of the job for me. I had spoken to him earlier after reading your post and even though it was hard to hear over the bad connection, he has a great understanding of the gearing, shifting, and traction control under boost.

For the Hilborn- I know I need the "A"ir valve, "S"econdary bypass valve, and "E"conomizer valve. Possibly a 2-way shut off valve, the metering valve that screws onto the fuel tank, and a fuel pump.As well as the drive from the fuel pump to the crank. I need someone to supply this piece. Hilborn had mentioned *Bailey Chassis Co.?

Mr.Draper will also supply the proper pill restrictors, springs, and shims to get where we need to be. I am currently waiting for a new point and condenser for the ARD. Didn't have any spark after testing vigorously, If it still doesn't fire ill replace the coil as well. all replacement parts found surprisingly easily and affordable on Ebay..

late nights as always, Thanks for reading!

So here we are, June 1st.. time is ticking away!

Lots to do in two and a half months..  ;D

I have come to somewhat of a stopping point until I can get some funds together. I am needing my frame blasted and powder coated, Hubs sent off to Buchanan for spokes, rims, and assembly, tires,And the few missing parts from hilborn,AND the turbo(manifold and labor to build)... That should get me to a rolling point in the project..

Kevin Draper is waiting for me to get the pieces I need for the Hilborn before we can continue setting it up, along with the manifold.

Not to mention the Registration for the BUB meet has opened and I also need to book a few rooms now before there isn't any space left.

With all that being said, donations are always welcome  ;)  I have a few local craigslist ad's that have been doing okay, but you are all welcome to check and see if there is anything you have to have! Willing to ship and would love to get this project moving faster!

This is the main one with most of what I could get pictures of-   http://austin.craigslist.org/mcy/4488347479.html

Thanks for any and all help as always!

Dude, the salt is not a beauty contest; don't waste what little time you have on cosmetics. Rattle can the frame; no one will see the difference once over 50 MPH. ;)

I already decided to wire-wheel>Paint the smaller stuff, I was even thinking about keeping the frame bare metal once it's blasted. Who knows.. It's been on my mind. But the $100 for powder coat is the least of my problems compared to the $800+ for wheels and another $600 or so for the fuel injection parts.

What wheels you wanting to run, sizes please. Maybe have something you can use, as Scottly said SALT going to make the prettiest bike look like sh*t at end of week. Saw my buddy's RD/RZ 350 before and after, so at this point, you ain't got much time,FUNCTION first, did the King of Bling say that! Haha. True though, pretty can be next year, Yoshimura bikes were some of the ugliest for years, but ran awesome. Go for it and wheel sizes please, Bill 8)

+1 with others..............all of our paint came from a rattle-can.  If your running a stock frame from the neck to the rear motor mounts, you may qualify for modified but you have to keep the seat above the height of the rear wheel. If you change more of the frame such as extending the neck and hacking the back-bone............you will likely be in the A-class........special construction.  Then you can lower the seat and move the footpegs back to the axle.  If modified, I'd run 19 and 18 wheel combo..........if A-class, go for a pair of 17s.  Wire-spokes will require tubes.

Yup,  at end of the race you will have to teardown,  or wish you had..salt gets everywhere..  Then paint it.
If you have shelter you can camp at Bend in the road.( Bring water)...free..
Gas station/truckstop of a mile away has a restaurant. Open most daylight. Hours, and has showers,  so you can save a. Lot there. .
But rooms are cheap anyway.. 50_60 weekend,  less during the week, should be in good supply.
The above is not true during speedweek.

The plan has been to try and run 18's front and back. Excel rims with stainless spokes.

Either 1.80 x 2.15, or 1.80 x 1.80 front and back

I have some polished hubs already cut out ready to ship. along with a bunch of stock wheels to choose from if I had too.

I have a modified frame, the lower braces have been removed so the head can be pulled in frame I believe. I'm also going to run Strictly Alky*
So i'm not sure what category i'm in. I also would like to do the CR750 fairing or DUSTBIN fairing from air tech.
Also not sure if i'm able to qualify for a FIM record or if I need to register AMA..

So this would put me in a  750-1000cc class, Forced induction, partially streamlined

I would worry less about sinking cash into wheels and focus on getting it running.
Won't be any good to us sitting on new wheels on display in the pits, but not able to run..

We are counting on you here to show the world what sohc Honda. Can do..

I just have to be able to count on them at 175+.. Plus with wheels and tires too wide, traction will be the deciding factor on my top speed apparently.

I hope to make you all proud, it's a lot to take on in only a few months.  ;)

Dust-bins are only allowed if they were factory production.........or on side-car rigs.  Looks like you may still qualify for modified..........assuming you have a big-bore..............you will be in the 1000cc class............and blown fuel with partial streamlining = MPS-BF  1000cc.............but check with the registration to be sure.  Also, you can register for multiple classes but they only charge for the optional classes if you actually enter them.............so at pre-register you only pay an extra $20 for the second class. BTW...........working on a naked bike is a lot faster and easier than having to first remove the fairing ;)

The pre-register saves big money.............but make sure your motor is going to be finished..............Like Frank said................BTW, salt eats SS spokes and gets into the nipples unless you wash and wax daily..............I have 3 or 4 helpers and no time for that.  I left my chain on the bike one year for about 10-days.............I had to cut it off :o  Now I use chain wax instead of lube, and I remove the chain and wash it in WD40 the day I get home.
