Congratulations to Trey on winning two rounds at his first event. He headed to the 3rd round of eliminations when they called the event due to rain. I was rooting for a round three win for him also.
It was cool to have 3, Sohc bikes lined up head tail in the same lane heading into first round of eliminations. Bill took the lead, our rookie rider in the middle and I was in the rear. For a while, all the bikes lined up behind us in the same lane. Initially no one wanted to line up beside the SOHC bikes until the staging guy forced them to pull up next to us. Hahaha.
Unfortunately Bill had a small issue off the line and didn't turn on the win light. Trey was next up. He was the slower bike so he got a handicap start. When his light came down, the bike bogged and cut off. Damn. But... apparently his opponent never paid attention to Treys' misfortune and redlighted. Trey won the round.!;! Trey wasn't aware of his win until my wife explained the rules. He was one happy camper and we were all elated for him. I rolled to the line behind Trey with a 10.80 dial in to my opponents 9.?? dial. I left first on a decent pass, as I got closer to the stripe I checked over my shoulder for my man he wasn't there so I rolled out of the throttle a little while and crossed the line with the win light on my side. Time slip showed I ran a 10.88. Uh oh, that was a breakout pass. 2 for 3 of the 750's advanced to the next round.
