TREY: Shift light and rear shocks [ for the squat ] it will add to the tools you will need for the numbers on that ticket to be very close, look at the flags down the track for head or tail winds = with low powered bikes under 100 HP [ running over 10's and under 140mph ] wind pushing front or back makes changes, strong side wind can put you in the other lane maybe with the other bike....... center of lane could be slick with all those leaking cars dripping down the 1320' at your local events. I walked the track in the mornings before racing looking for bad roads ahead, nuts, bolts, screws, pop rivets, dutz fittings and many things that fell off those racers rides that DO-NOT use LOCK TIGHT.

PS: Make sure FRANK turns his gas on, you too !!!!

I'm not happy because I have made this change since I ran the bike last. Dropped 1 tooth up front so it will launch harder.. Just not sure what RPM to launch at now. Gonna try a few launchs in the pits before we head up to the lanes

Does anyone else think Trey would be better going to a larger rear sprocket rather than going smaller on the front..?  Same effect but less strain on the chain...?

I think when we ran the CR, we went right down to 15 on the front Mick, it's not to bad as long as the chain is maintained.

Well Retro I got a EK DRZ2 drag chain. A bit overkill but if the big pro stock bikes use them without issues I feel safe for sure

I'm asking because the Honda drag bikes i've seen, including the one I have, all had larger rear sprockets, not smaller fronts, I wonder what size front sprockets the pro stock guys use...?  Another problem going with smaller front sprockets is the chain can hit the swingarm, just something to look out for...

This is from the AMA's road racing site on gearing changes

Quote
Increasing Low End Torque
Knowing the equation for the final drive ratio, let’s take the stock motorcycle gearing and aim for more drivability off the corner. To do that, final drive ratios need to be increased, which can be done by increasing the rear sprocket size or reducing the front sprocket size. Reducing the front sprocket size is not recommended due to the decreased sprocket diameter will affect the chain by making it have to bend at an increased angle. Increasing the chain angle more will in turn make the o-rings on the chain wear out sooner. It should also be noted that there is a sacrifice in top end speed for increasing torque. For this example, we will add 3 teeth to the rear sprocket.

Just curious   ;)

Time for an update  ;D

I have been busy in and out of state the past 6 weeks but have managed to hit test and tune almost every Friday and Saturday at my local track.

Still dealing with tuning issues here and there along with air shifter failures but I have managed to get the ET down to 13.25 @ 99Mph. My reaction times have all been .0xx or .00x the last few trips and I have got the 60' down to 1.94 pretty consistently.

Working on having Pena make me a 9" over extended arm to help with a harder launch. I also need a smaller front tire and larger rear.

Still having fun and getting better every time out!

Should be in the 12's soon

Good job Trey. Keep up the test and tune days- seat time to hone your riding skills is what gets you win slips. Great reaction times- keep it coming. Happy to see you concentrating on honing your skills at  racing the bike as its set up now without moving on to anything else. Once you extend it and put the bigger engine on the bike, you'll be that much better.

Proud of your progress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TREY: If you ran 13.25 at 99mph W/ .05RT or less all day long = every time then those 8-9-10 second bikes would have to run you down at the 1319' LINE and most time their 125-170mph bikes would be breaking them out or them crashing if they tried to brake not to brake out. It's a BRACKET RACE not how fast can I go ......... they pay for the wins at the end of the day and not for your ET or MPH. At this past SATURDAY NIGHT OF FIRE me and the TURTLE HAD THE PACKED HOUSE ON THEIR FEET watching the HARE trying to catch the TURTLE and none did but the race was called with me and two other racers at 1:30 AM because of a curfew= we 3 split the money. I had me and the "TURTLE'S " picture taken by many in the staging lane and on the track with the win light in my lane.
PS. On your slow bikes after the 1320' do not slow down right away as those fast bikes trying to jam the breaks on not to break out tend to crash [ in 25 years I helped a few get up off the ground and picked up a broken bike and racer ]
