Two-tone paint is a pain in the ass but I'm really happy with how this came out. I can't wait to see how this looks with the clear on it.

That looks great, and will only improve with the clear coat.  NICE!!   8)

Thanks for all the compliments! I like doing as much as the work myself, even if a professional paint job would be cleaner, DIY is just more rewarding sometimes.

Resto Fan, the primer is Duplicolor Automotive Series filler primer.

I was going to reuse the original latch and gas cap since they were in pretty good shape but the latch broke when I was taking it off. Oh well, It gave me an excuse to get some new bling for the bike.

Got the engine back in the frame this morning.

My next step is getting the frame off the ground and back on two wheels. I started working on changing the bearings on the rear wheel. Looks like someone's done it before because the retainer has already been drilled out so I got that off. I can't seem to get the bearings to budge at all, though. Any tips on knocking them out?

Hey everyone, sorry for disappearing from the site. Now that Spring is almost here I'm actually able to get back in my garage and get back to work on putting this bike back together. I just ordered some braided brake lines from Slingshot Cycles, a modified speedometer drive from Godffrey, and some extra long bolts to fit my dual disks. I even got some garage time in yesterday and was able to install my new races and bearings in my steering stem.

And just because it looks so cool I'm posting this...

Thanks guys, I picked the color because it looked like a candy color that should have come stock. I got a little bit more done today, I changed my fork oil, put in new seals and installed them with new gaiters. The fork ears are from a 550 I got off ebay a while back and the forks are also from a 550 I picked up from another forum member.

I'm one step closer to having a rolling chassis. I finally got around to changing out the bearings and tires on the 500, two things that have been sitting around my garage for months. Everything is pretty much wrapped up on them except for a couple things. On the front I'm waiting on a new bearing retainer (someone had already been in there previously and mangled it) and the rear I need to borrow my dad's impact driver to tighten down the new sprocket I just put on. Also as you can see in the picture I've got one of Godffrey's modified Speedo drives on the hub so I can do my dual disks.

I've got the shocks apart now with the springs soaking in parts cleaner, just trying to get rid of some surface rust before I put them back on. Once they're back on the bike with the wheels things should start going back together pretty quickly.
