Honda cb550 Carburetors
« on: May 06, 2014, 10:18:35 AM »
I bought a 1978 Honda CB550K2 a few weeks ago and I'm in the process of cleaning and rebuilding the carburetors. I've been doing some research and I don't think these are the original carbs for this year. I think they're from a 1974-76 model but I'm not sure. I just need to know so I don't end up ordering the wrong rebuild kit. Also, will this make a difference with how my bike will run after I get these back on?

The 78 Honda in the US was a K3 and used PD style carbs.

If your frame VIN says 78, then check the engine numbers to see if you have a transplant or modified bike.

The 022A carbs are useable on any CB550, provided the jetting and internal setup is matched to the 74-76 induction components and exhaust setup.

The 022A carbs use 16010-323-315  gaskets.

Awesome, thanks! I just ordered the gasket sets, I'll have to look at my engine number later today. I'm certain the carbs were switched out though.

Yep, upon further research, turns out my engine is from a 76 cb550.
